If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

I used the brand Answer pregnancy test a full 7 days before my period was due and got a true positive!

no it would not be too soon to take a pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests check for a hormone called HCG, which is present in pregnant women. The farther along you are the more amount of the hormone that will be in your system. With exceptions such as molor pregnancy or the death of the fetus. Where the molar pregnancy will constitute massive amounts of the hormone the event of the fetus dying will show none or barely any. Furthermore, at 5 weeks if there is a baby present you should see a line, if you don't and still don't get your period, retest in a week. If it is still negative call your doctor and schedule a blood tests, you may just not have enough of the hormone built up in your body yet to show yet. Don't freak and act pregnant until you get the final answer, of course unless that it a positive or you are trying then continue to act pregnant . Good Luck

No it would not be too early to test. By now you should have at least a small amount of HCG in your urine. Although there are some women who never test positive on a pee test. You might want to get a blood test. Good Luck

No. They are quite reliable within three weeks. Keep track of your fertile mucus. That is what you need to know.

Nope, the pregnancy hormone is detectable as soon as you've missed a period.
