I had been playing Halo/Halo2 for almost a year when suddenly my sister got very into me not playing violent video games. Before I knew it my mom (saying she did not approve all along) and my dad who didn't care at all if I played, took it away. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get it back.

Thats because they probably are concerned for you so that you don't become a killer or something. They have probably seen the news reports of kids killing people because of video games.. Or they believe the Violent video games were the cause of Columbine shooters doing what they did. They are just trying to keep you safe. I know that it's silly that you own Bad Company and not any other shooter but I can see why they see the M label and say no. So I'm sorry that they can't help you. If I were you, I would try and talk to them. Show them Bad Company for instance and tell them that Halo is as violent but Futuristic. I think that's the best bet to do. Who knows, maybe they will get you Halo 3 for Christmas :P I hope this helps! -Randall-

Hmm. Maybe it's just the Dad in me that feels compelled to jump in here, but sneaking it, playing a different copy, etc., is only going to get you caught and show your parents that you're not responsible enough to handle it. It's a mature game, so let's show a little maturity. (Gotta say, it seems odd to me that the sister felt compelled to jump in there - is she an older sister? Younger sister? Does she regularly imply that you're up to no good? Something there needs to be addressed - but that's not the question at hand).
First, I would invite your Dad to sit down and play it with you. They need to see for themselves whether this is something appropriate or not, and Dad seems like the ideal choice for that. Remember, you're outnumbered, and you need someone on your side in this fight.
Next, I would keep track of what the family watches on television. Chances are good that if you're watching any kind of network television nowadays, you are going to see much more realistic violence than any kind of game that shows sci-fi alien blasting.
Third, I would sit down with the parents and explain to them that this is something that you have been doing for some time, that had not had adverse affects on you, and that their sudden change from allowing you to play to now not allowing you to play is confusing.
And if they still don't want you to play, they're your parents.

Tell them you're not a dumbass that can't tell the difference between a video game and reality. Reassure them that you only play the game for entertainment and not because you're angry at the world. Invite them to play the game with you so they can see how harmless it is. I grew up watching tom & jerry which is just as, if not more violent than any video game today. Not as graphic, but the violence was still there. And I turned out fine.
Or, did I? muhahahahahaha

Tell them its better to vent any anger into a video game than on real people. Anyway only really really impressionable people get bad ideas from computer games. If they're over 7, then they should probably be locked any in a mental hospital before they hurt someone. Its inevitable with those people.
Ps halo is only a 16 game, there are worse games out there.

ask your parents to allow you to demonstrate the so called violence in the game let them try and play so they can see how difficult it is. explain to them that it is improving you hand eye coordination. as a gamer the violence is towards a non human enemy with very little reality, invite your dad to a multiplayer and i'm sure he will become hooked. play responsibly and the benefits are you will be accepted into a community or if you have your friends over for a multiplayer match your where your parents can see you and know that your not out causing any criminal act with your spare time. let them read this so they can see you strongly believe in your freedom to make good choices in life.

Even though halo2 is rated mature. Little kids still play it. I'm 13, i play it. LOL. i know kids that arent in middle school yet and they're playing it. Show your parents GoW and they will know that Halo2 isnt that bad 'cause GoW is super duper gory.

Ask them "Why the hell are you letting my sister get into my life?" Tell them it's none of her business and it's your game, your console, your life, and your choice if you want to play it or not.
