We hear that Putin is a despot and is trying to rule Russia like a Czar. Sadly, our media is usually more concerned with soft news, such as Anna Nicole Smith's death.

The Western media rarely portrays Russia AT ALL.

However, when they are portrayed, there are three basic ways. One is a cultural/historical context, generally free of opinion. The second is in the loving portrayal of the Anastasia story, ignoring any social context. The third is as terrorists, as in the movie Air Force One.

Not really imo. Only when they risk any disruption to gas and oil supplies do they get the occasional chiding. On the whole I think there is a healty respect (mixed with fear as USSR is still a power with far reaching influence and determination).

yer maybe a little. but i think we are getting their theo. not so many films ect were the Russia's are portrayed as the baddies. which your not.
