Aside from wandering around the Opry Mills Mall for a while, Are there any cheap/free things to do that a middle aged couple might enjoy? I already found the Parthenon replica answer. Any other suggestions?

Well, you're just no going to believe this, but here goes: the Library. It is simply amazing on so many levels. You can spend hours there and not look at a book. If you go, you will not be disappointed. It's one of the most fascinating places in an amazing town. Please visit - you've never seen anything like it, I promise.

Have lunch at the Union Station hotel - spend the night there if you can, it's wonderful. The entire roof over the original concourse was made by Louis Comfort Tiffany. You know those lamps he made that are now worth thousands? Well, he made about a quarter-acre roof like that . Wow! You can take a tour of it or just poke around inside.

Might be fun to walk around the campus of Vanderbilt University - lots of history and architecture.

Visit the Hermitage - home of Andrew Jackson.

Hang out at the end of Broadway.

There are alot of great things to do in Nashville. Lots of historic places. There is a very interesting "haunted" tour you can take. Also they have tours of the stars homes. My husband and I went there a couple of months ago. It was very nice. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe too.

Pick up some of the local attraction brochures at the hotel you stay at. There is also a Nashville magazine available for free that you can pick up in stores, hotels, shops, etc. It has alot of advertisements for tourist attractions.
