Iran doesn't have an aircraft carrier for starters, besides America and Britain have 30 in the Indian Ocean with 20 more nuclear submarines. There isn't any problem out there, it's really safe.

I don't think Iran has a Navy. They might have a couple of warships, but no aircraft carriers (I might be wrong about that).
If Iran sent a warship out of the Persian Gulf, through the Indian Ocean, around the Horn of Africa and toward Florida, America would detect it long before it reached our coast. We would probably threaten military action and have our own warships meet it en route. No Iranian ship would get anywhere near the U.S. coast.

Charlie ... I'm not sure why you posed that question, but I feel it's worth answering.
In decades past, the former Soviet Union had subs with nuclear missiles aboard patrolling not far from our coastal waters. We tolerated it because we did the same to them. Furthermore, although the Soviets were imperialistic, modern day leaders of the USSR did somewhat care about the survival of their country. Therefore, the principle of mutually assured destruction (MAD) was an effective deterrent. In other words, if they dared to strike us, if they didn't completely wipe us out with the first blow, we'd retaliate, beat them to a pulp, and ask questions later. This is the principle known as MAD.
Now, fast forward to 2007. Now we have a few "nut job" dictators who seem to not care about ANY damned thing except hating America, flaunting their power, and threatening to do things to "torque us off." What I'm getting at is this: Although "MAD" helped in our defense against the Soviet Union, these crazies we're dealing with today are a different ball of wax. I don't think they'd care if their whole country were wiped out ... as long as they went out with a bang, as they say.
I'm not a military strategist, but I'm sure that the President, the U.S. intelligence community, and the President's national security advisers know enough about this to help us get through it.
Are the President and his team perfect? No, but I'll tell you this: Who are you gonna call if we get into a jam? Our Defense Department or Tim Robbins, Michael Moore, and Jane Fonda? If the going gets tough, I'm sure these folks will have their mail forwarded to the French Riviera and we won't see or hear anything from them until the whole thing is done and the dust has settled ... with no thanks to them, of course.
Thanks for the question, Charlie. You didn't give details as some questioners do which would suggest the kind of answer you were looking for. This helped to make sure your question was taken as serious and you got answers from both "sides of the aisle. Thanks again.
P.S.: As for the answer provided from Baron, his memory is extremely short. He seems to have totally forgotten about:
1 - The bombing and destruction of our two embassies in Africa in August of '98.
2 - The bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in October of 2000.
3 - And last, but not least, let's not overlook the first attack on the World Trade Center by a huge truck bomb in February of '93.
Has Baron failed to note that all of the above events occurred on President Clinton's watch? His Oval Office chair was barely warm when the truck bomb struck the World Trade Center the month after he took office. Therefore, I can hardly blame him for not preventing it. However, President Clinton DID have the following eight years to do something about it, yet he did virtually nothing, apparently; if he did actually do something, the facts don't lie ... his actions were ineffective as evidenced by the acts of violence that followed, not to mention September 11th.
So, Mr. Baron ... Please brush up on these recent events before making statements you cannot back-up.

A ship inside our territorial waters would be the same as an aircraft flying in our air space, without permission, it would be an act of war

It's a very good question to ask, who does Bush think he is exactly? the world was more of a peaceful place before he came into power, he says it's to make America safer, but all he has done is make things worse. All Bush has achieved is death and destruction and he should be held to account for his war crimes!
It makes me laugh when i read comments like we will blow them out of the water, show them whos boss etc. What gives America the right to park their weapons of mass destruction right on their doorstep? The bush administration is a different version of the Nazi's invading countries illegally and taking their oil etc.
We need a peacefull president and things will begin to calm down again. I can't wait for the new presidency!
