I'm trying to teach myself guitar, what would be a good way to start? I'm into classic rock, but I'm also starting to get into country.

I've been playing for 3 years, my guitar teacher moved away and it costs alot to hire a teacher.

If your into classic rock and country, tablatures are the way to go. Try www.ultimateguitar.com (make sure you have a good pop-up blocker). Or just search google for the song name and write tab following the name ("Stairway to Heaven tabs"). Before you dive into songs though...I'd reccommend learning a few basic chords like G major, C major, F major, E minor etc. Don't worry about the "why's" right now, if you are still interested in your gutiar after a few months, than you can ponder some music theory. Rock On!

if you start with an acoustic then you could go to a electric after. but it will be a lot harder to start with an electric because of the difference in the sound. you can go to musicansfriend.com to get what you want. and you can get cds and dvds to help you learn which ever one you want
