Pregnant women are advised to sleep on their left side, and supposedly it takes pressure off your aorta and your vena cava. Some people say it lowers your blood pressure and your stomach empties berrer if you sleep on your left side. Some people say it causes your organs to press against your heart.

I don't think so. In CPR training, 'recovery postion' is lying on the left side in fetal position.
