dont think about it too much. dont sit and think about what you are going to say before you get on the phone... jsut go with the flow and talk to them as if they were standing if front of you. It also helps to talk to them online on an instant messenger... this loosens things up and can get you prepaired for talking to them on the phone. dont stress it... its not a big deal... if they are your real friend then they are not going to judge you for what you do on the phone :D ok i hope i helped!

Without understanding how long and what this friend means to you as well as if it is someone that you are attracted to there is not much advice that can be offered.
One thing that you can do is be up-front and tell them that talking to them on the phone makes you feel a little nervous and if they would direct the flow of conversation.

Maybe your friend is just stomped for words. Ask.... Hello some people are not good communicators over the telephone.
Be patient.
When you see him/her face to face, gently bring up the situation of quietness on the phone and come up with some ways to over come this very little issue.
Remember some are more quiet than others.

Just keep reminding yourself this is just a friend and not a big deal and pretend this friend is someone you are confortable with. The best thing is to try and be yourself and maybe you can write down a few topics you two can talk about just in case you go blank for a minute.

Maybe write down some conversation topics on a piece of paper before you call. This can be anything from what you did that day, what you saw on TV, read in the newspaper, politics, school (if applicable). Could be anything, but write down a few topics that interest you and you should be fine.

Just remember that it's your friend, you can talk to your friends. Calling someone is just a faster way of communicating with someone, (besides IM). Just start taking and the words will flow. Just start with "Hi, is (your friends name) here?" and so on and so forth...

Just think about this: You're in advantage because you're not right in front of him, you can talk more freely with him, ask him about what you think you both have in common, when you see him in person, you´re gonna have more topics to talk about with him.

well talk bout something that will make him laugh..may like not too embarrissing moments you'ved had..or maybe talk about you being shy that would leave him to asking why and maybe he will start talking and conversation would strike with you not worried about being shy.

maybe you should talke to him in person more...that way the phone isn't as big of a deal...and maybe hang out in groups that way if the conversaiton slows down...there will be other people to pick it up....ask him questions about himself people love to talk about themselves...
