What format do publishers ask for in a finished manuscript?

Double spaced, margins at least an inch all around. Indent the first line of a paragraph at least five spaces, maybe better ten. Do not put an extra blank line in between paragraphs unless you mean that to be a section break.

Use a very readable font, such as Times New Roman or Courier or Century Schoolbook (my personal favorite), at least 12 pitch. Number the pages at the center bottom.

Give it a cover page with nothing on it but the title, author, and author's address. I would include phone number and email address if I were you. Staple the pages together.
