In an old original episode there was an "Edith Keeler". Maybe that's what you're thinking?
Never heard "Kessler".

I did a search of the official Star Trek website and could no reference to a character with the name Kessler. Kim Kessler is the producer of a new TV reality series and her name was mentioned in an article at StarTrek.com. You can read the article at the link below.
