Parents of all children who attend a school are allowed on the schools property by law. Parents do not have to be notified that this is happening. The teachers/ administration should be aware that the parents are sex offenders, and need to make sure these parents are not alone with children without other "safe" adults present, school personell is best.
We have a parent of a child in my building that is a sex offender. He comes in almost every day to pick up his daughter. He has free roam in the building, and because his daughter is a student we cannot stop him. (Honestly, it's very frightening to watch him as a middle school girl walks by and is dressed in a short skirt walks by... but that's another issue)
Should they be... not in my opinion. Is there much we can do about it, not really just make sure that he is supervised as well.

That depends a whole lot on WHY they're registered sex offenders. If they were arrested for 'indecent exposure' in college, I see no that should prohbit their participation in their child's education. Someone who was convicted of statutory rape at 18 because the parents of his 17-year-old girl friend decided to press charges is really no threat to children, either. On the other hand, if they were convicted of sexually abusing a prepubescent child, then they shouldn't even be allowed to be around their own children, let alone in an elementary school classroom.
In most places, people who have been convicted of a sex crime in the past would be barred from working in schools, but that may or may not impact parents who are only going to be around the kids with a school employee present. I know that when I was going to participate in a volunteer program with elementary school kids last year I had to give them a copy of my drivers liscence for them to run a background check.

I agree that it depends. Someone can be put on a "sex offenders list" because they were caught at 16 going "pee" behind a tree. Sex offenders are allowed in schools with pemission. However, it depends on the situation. The individuals are allowed to show you the court records.

Absolutely no. The only children they are allowed to be around are their own - and that can make life difficult for their own kids. But exposing them to other children, especially at an elementary level where kids aren't very sophisticated about sexual approaches, makes no sense whatsoever.

Absolutely not!! They should not be allowed near children! In most states you need clearance before you can help in the schools.

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!! If I had a child I wouldn't want them to be around sex offenders. Whether they knew about sex or not, I wouldn't want them to be exposed like that.

You can become a sex offender from "streaking" (running around naked in public). So find out WHY they are sex offenders first.
