Safe to not get pregnant? Well the typical answer is your ovualtion takes place 14 days after your period starts and you get your next period 14 days after you ovulate. However, this is not the case for EVERY woman. Most people ovulate at different times not to mention the fact that sperm can live for up to 72 hours in the body. The best thing to do if you are trying to not have a baby is to protect yourself. Good luck

Well, really its NEVER "safe" if you are talking about getting pregnant. They say you ovulate on the 14th day of your 28 day cycle. Also, you should not "have contact" 7 days before
ovulation or 7 days after - unless you are looking to get pregnant.
So......thats 14 days......figure another 5-7 for your period...
pretty sure that leaves you with 7 days where you COULD BE "safe".

OK if you have a 28 days cycle it should be from the first day of your last period to the day 14. But if you are irregular like I'am well it depends on your cycle and you should count 14 days before your first day of period. I have done it and t had work while I was using OPK and a chart. They were both close and right. Now I suggest you start monitoring your period using this fabulous website: www.mymonthlycycles.com
