I am not sure if I should upgrade to vista, because I have heard that there have been some problems with it, but at the same time I dont want to feel outdated.

u are no where near outdated ... most of the advanced features that vista supports there hasnt even been hardware released for yet like hybrid harddrives and secondary update screens ... its ridiculous to update at the moment with all the compatibility issues with drivers and software ...

Windows Vista is still in Beta i do belive. whcih means they are still working out the kinks. However this does not mean its at all a bad choice to take on. Windows Vista is the New XP. It has 10x the better Virus control, fast working and plenty more. It does cost money though from most places you get it. On The actual website it is aprox. 800 dollars or more. So if you have XP and dont have the money to get vista then keep XP and wait for vista prices to go down. You are no where near being outdated being that Vista is still in Beta, XP is the most reliable choice at the moment.

Don't feel outdated I'm still running xp since it has more security features then vista does temporarily we already know in the next few years theirs gonna be some flaw with vista. Even when I get a new computer I will just reformat to run with xp let vista wait a few more years I've heard of a lot of users experiencing problems with the windows vista software and it is major problems one person couldn't even access their CD drives anymore it just wouldn't detect it and that's a major flaw within the programing.
Good Luck with either decision you make.

Heres the thing, every one on here is going to give you an opinion, even me so treat them like that.

XP is a solid operating system that while it does have some problems theres absolutly nothing wrong with it. Eventually MS will stop supporting it but that wont be for a long time.

Vista is very solid too, it has a totally different lay out that I myself am not quite familiar with yet, it deffintally takes some adjusting too. It just like almost any new software comes with a bunch of new toys too. Alot of them you can get for xp too but some of them not. Vista also takes a lot bigger and badder pc, I wouldnt use it on a pc with less than 1gb of ram. You also need a pretty decent video card.

So I will let you make the decision yourself.. If your computer can handle vista with out upgrading anything at all and there are some new features that you absolutly can not get with xp or you just want it to have because your a computer junky.

I would stick with xp if your computer is even a little older because before too long you can just buy a faster pc with vista preloaded for about the price of any upgrades you might have to do. If xp is working for you and theres nothing you cant live with out I would also stick with xp.

I myself am a geek and my desktop is blazing fast so I put vista on it and I wanted some of the features like voice, and the new windows movie maker, it has some other advantages but you can see them at microsofts web sight. On my laptop I am sticking with XP, it is vista certified, but its still just a mid range pc and all I use it for is basics.

if you just want a taste of vista theres some software out there to make xp look almost identical to vista.

No. Microsoft has NEVER released an operating system that has worked correctly out of the box. Ever. That being said the only time you should even consider an upgrade is when there is some task you want to accomplish, or some program you want to run that your machine and operating system cannot do/run for you now.

If you do not know WHY you need to upgrade, then the answer is that you DON'T need to upgrade.

In windows vista there is alot of typing...kind of like the way it was before XP but the software is definetaly better.

It depends on whether your computer is compatible with windows vista or not and also dont feel outdated bacause alotof people haven't switched.

No. It is not quite as bad as some people are making out but you would get absolutely no benefit from upgrading to it and it still has a lot of problems.
You should just wait until service pack 1 comes out and then put your money towards a new PC which will come with vista.

I have used both XP and Vista, The only problems i really see with vista is the huge amouts of block or allow messages and your computer must be the best one ever to use it.

If vista has the same issues as windows xp did, I would wait for 6 months to a year to see that they iron out all the bugs and develop a service pack for it, (as they invariably must). windows is notoriously lax in coming out of the gate under full power
