Do you guys realize that there is NO groomers licensing? That is something that the industry has been trying to get for years now. Us groomers do not need a license (like a hairdresser does) to be a groomer. If you want to have your own shop, you need a busines license, but thats it. Any idiot with a set of clippers and a pair of scissors can call themselves a dog groomer. Sad, but true.
I've watched the video on this dog and it does not make any sense to me. First off..how long ago did this happen? That ShihTzu is in full coat. If it was taken to the groomer and left in full coat...why were the ears scissored?
Ears bleed like crazy. Unless the groomer cauterized the leather, the glue would not hold the ear back together, unless she glued the hair. If she glued the hair, the dog would have shook and the ear would have fell off.
How long was the dog at the groomer? If this happened, the groomer would have needed alot of time to get the ear to stop bleeding, cover up the injury and clean the blood off the dog.
I have nicked an ear before (we work on moving targets, accidents will and do happen) It was nothing serious, but I knew as soon as the tips of my scissors touched the ear that I was cutting into something other than hair and I stopped, only causing a tiny scratch. I really think it would have taken alot to lop off an ear with a pair of scissors..even though our scissors are very sharp...I have a hard time seeing that happening.
I am almost thinking that the groomer had a bow in the hair, the bow fell out and someone tried to put the bow back in. Instead of putting it in the hair, they put it on the leather of the ear. That would cause the ear to fall off and not bleed.
The thing I find suspicious, is that the business has closed and the groomer left town.

I think that the dog was taken to the groomer, but i think that maybe the dog was given a trim. Dogs of that kind have to have long hair. As far as the ear, I see what you are saying about the bleeding and i believe what you are saying is true and also the dog would have been yelping and screaming when the owner picked it up and would have been scratching at the ear. If it is true and the groomer did this to my dog I would kick some behind and then go prosecute them to the max. I would also have it to where they would lose their license.

I know this is hard to believe, but I did read the article. It happened in Washington. I can't believe the owner did not see a problem with the ear right away! I guess some people do not pay attention to their dogs like I do! I would never take my dog to a groomer...let alone one that was not licensed in the first place! Who knows what they do to those animals when they are alone, especially if one gets out of hand.

That is so sad! The poor dog! This type of animal cruelty shouldn't be happening ANYWHERE. Us as animal lovers should put an end to this abuse

had not heard about that. the superglue might have held the ear on and the cut together so that the bleeding stopped

Yes, I saw it yesterday. I believe it to be true. Why would someone make that up and put themselves on television and risk being nabbed for fraud?
