No one star wants to join a lackluster group and Richardson and LeBron are injured
The dunk contest has become about young unknowns since Carter last won it
would have liked to see Iggy in it again this year
guess he couldn't handle a rematch with Nate

Gerald Green may turn out to be one of the greatest dunkers in history when it's all said and done. He is a monster. I will go far as to say that he's better than Lebron in dunking.

Richardson is hurt... All 4 are past the limit, the dunk contest is for rising stars to gain recognition. They cannot enter after their 3rd year. In your contest, by the way... change LeBron for Amare Stoudemire. LeBron would suck so bad.
And, having seen Howard, Green, Tyrus, and Robinson... this is gonna be a SPECTACULAR contest, mark my words. At least 4 50-point dunks tomorrow night.
Oh and Truth... the spot wasn't offered to Iguodala, he woulda owned though.

The NBA wants to highlight some of its young stars, plus the veterans don't want to do it for the reeasons listed above (possibility of injury, lack of money). But to be honest, with the direction the NBA is going, even some of these lesser known players have amazing hops and can throw down some wicked dunks. The only thing I don't like is picking 7-footers like Howard for the contest, they are not as fun to watch. The only way he will impress me is if he breaks a backboard on a dunk.

Because there isn't enough money in it! I bet if the NBA had a $1.5 million purse and with $800,000 going to first $500,00 to second and $200,000 to third it would draw the big names that everyone wants to see in the dunk contest.

yeah why isnt vinsanity in there? its probably because he already won and also instead of 10 people on the floor there is one spotlight and one shooter. thats a lot of pressure that 95% of people couldn't handle. carter and bryant are damn close to being veterans and they want to create new stars to market as well.
