Yeah, that's what makes the show soooo funny! Like, Doug goes out and buys a motorcycle when Carrie already said no. Or when Doug brings Carrie on a vacation that he thought they've already been... but it turns out that Doug actualty brought his ex girlfriend there before, not Carrie! Soooooo funny!

Same thing with Everybody Loves Raymond. Deborah was alwayys on Ray's butt about something. Not only does it provide some comic relief, but it shows how much we try to deceive others when we know we are wrong.
