Quebec should be the team. Do not move Pittsburgh to Hartford or any other place, the Penguins have a long tradition in Pittsburgh.

Most definitely I would like to see Winnipeg back in the NHL. In fact, there is a grass roots effort that's been underway for quite some time to do just that.

The people who are spearheading the group are hopeful that the NHL will come back either through the city being awarded an expansion franchise; or by the relocation of a present NHL team to the Manitoba capital city. The latter of the two options appears to make the most sense.

The NHL is pretty well maxed out as far as the number of teams goes; and I doubt the Board of Governors will consider expanding the league again anytime soon. If anything, the NHL could get by fairly well if it shrank by two teams.

The only problem that I foresee is that Winnipeg's new downtown arena, the MTS Centre, only holds about 15,000 spectators for hockey. That's slightly less of a capacity than the NHL would likely prefer. It has been reported that the MTS Centre could be expanded in order to accommodate an NHL team.

The building that the Winnipeg Jets played in before their departure to Phoenix as the Coyotes, the Winnipeg Arena, has long since been torn down. It was located adjacent to the city's football stadium; CanadInns Stadium.

Take a look at the group's website and it sure seems those folks are serious about wanting to get the NHL back in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg and Quebec City. The people in that city raised over $13 million to keep that team north of the border (the money ended up going to various Winnipeg charities) and the French Canadians are just bonkers over their hockey so another Nordiques team will definitely bring in a huge influx cash. Also, because the US dollar is now lowered ($1.17 average for the past few months compared to the $1.25+ back then), it's much cheaper to have another two NHL teams in Canada.

A problem with getting teams up there is that the city has to petition the NHL to do so; Bettman can't just send a team over. It has to be the city's decision and theirs alone. So far, neither Winnipeg nor Quebec City has shown any interest.

Just a random thought here: I think the Blue Jackets should move up to Winnipeg. They're a nothing team with low revenues. Do people even know what hockey is down there? If they move up to Winnipeg, the league will be better off. And the Penguins should move to Quebec City IF they end up moving.

Out of the three you mention I would have to say Winnipeg for several reasons. First, Winnipeg did not lose the Jets because of lack of fan support, they lost it because of greed of the owners and no commitment for a new arena. I think both Quebec and Hartford had their chances with teams and Quebec was hampered by the fact that Montreal was (and always will be) the favorite of the Province. Hartford is a small market and too close to Boston to be anything but a minor league franchise. There will always be a love of hockey in Canada since it is the national sport. That's why I'd have to give the advantage to Winnipeg.
