why do girls get periods.........i mean my mom kinda explained it 2 me but whats the point in having them??

Your menstrual cycle is a natural cleansing method. Your body releases blood in hopes to cleanse the inner vagina . Part of your cycle is termed as ovulation when your body releases eggs once a month ffor fertilezation.

Periods are the shedding of the endometrium or inner uterine
lining. This is the structure that allows the fertilized egg to im-
plant. It's built up by a series of hormones during the ovulatory
cycle. If your egg doesn/t get fertilized there is no need to have
a endometrial lining. It takes a hormones from the fertilized egg
to maintain the lining. Without a fertilized ovum (egg) the lining
sloughs off. This too happens with animals, but not on a monthly
basis like humans. Some women don't have regular monthyly
cycles either, dysmenorrhea or no cycles amenorrhea. AS FOR
BEST ANSWER, women get erections too. Its called engore-
ment of the of the outer perimeter of the

I'm glad you asked because I read an interesting article on this subject. An anthropologist wondered the same thing, because animals don't have periods.
She posited that because humans are the only animals that have intercourse other than to reproduce, it is vital that a female uterus be cleaned an a regular basis to reduce the chances of penile-born infection.
So in other words, it's because of dirty men and their dirty, dirty pee-pee's. You guys remember that when you complain about women's periods.

it is the perfect cycle to mantain a fresh egg from the ovaries to have a baby. creating the perfect environment for it to develop inside along with the secretion of hormones that are secreted to prepare for this and even to flush it out and prepare again.

Its your uterus flushing out unfertilized eggs. Thats why when you get pregnant you dont have a period, an egg has been fertilized. Atleast that is my understanding.
