Never! There's a lot more to Britannia than just England. They should have a totally separate "anthem" as do the Scots and Welsh.

No-one should have a National Anthem that is a Nationalistic Anthem. It creates divisiveness, fosters differences based on colour class and creed and is contrary to the JC Rule : Love thy neighbour as thyself.

Or Land of Hope and Glory - almost anything would be better than the dirge we have at the moment. Most other countries celebrate the nation or the people and, personally, I think in this day and age we should too.

William Blakes' Jerusalem should be the anthem (I don't know who wrote the music):

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold;
Bring me my arrows of desire;
Bring me my spear; O clouds, unfold!

Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.
