YES, but make sure to call the local Social Security office when you get to texas and tell them you have moved.

Also, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP MAIL FORWARDING, because if they get a piece of mail returned, they will suspend your benefits until they sort everything out.

Remember that if you tell Social Security about your address change after about the 15th of the month (it can be a slightly different day every month), they won't be able to change the check that is set to come out on the 1st of the upcoming month.

Enjoy your move!

Yes. SSI is a program administered by the federal government. It's available in every state. To change your address, go to:

https://s044a90.ssa.gov/apps6z/ICOA/coa001.jsp

Some states offer supplemental payments to SSI beneficiaries who are living independently, but neither Missouri or Texas do this. Your SSI amount will not change.

In Missouri you had to apply for your Medicaid through a state agency. In Texas you will automatically be enrolled in Medicaid because of your SSI eligibility.

Good luck if you decide to move!

yes....this is a federal program, not a state program. You just need to go to the SS Office in your new town and fill out a form or 2 and change your contact info with them.

If you qualify for SSI, it doesn't matter what state you live in or where you move to.
