When the US first won its indepencence from Great Britian there was some animosity between the two countries. In the 19th century there some disagreements between the two countries (Oregon Territory Border for one) that could have lead to war, but were instead solved by negotion and treaty. This soon lead to a respect and friendship between the two nations.

This was personified in the anecdotal story from the late19th century when Britian was at war with somebody and when a helpless British ship was about to be attacked, an American warship interposed itself between them, and the American Captian was quoted as saying "Blood is thicker than water"

It has been said that "Nations don't have friendships, only common interests." But I believe that the US and Great Britian belie that statement. Since the days of WWII and the relations between Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt, The US and Great Britian have had an even closer relationship to the point that I believe that either one would be willing to put its own self at risk to save the other. We risked our own nation's security to join Geat Britian in its battle to destroy Hitler. Great Britian has risked its own security to join us in our "War on Terror."

Great Britian and the US have shed blood together on the field of battle and as such are the greatest of allies.

My opinion.....But I think I am right

In that Britain has sided with the US in just about every circumstance, yes. However, the British sometimes resent the fact that the US is perceived as using Britain as a yes man instead of a partner. While the US has many other European allies, both officially (like Germany, Holland, Italy etc) and historically (France) none have been so integral a part of American history.

All of the anglo forces are pretty tight. While I was in the Navy, there always seemed to be Brits, Canadians and Australians along for the ride. In fact, Canadian ships always deployed with ours as part of the battle group.

That's what allies do.

There's something peculiar going on with Japan, too. Before WW II, Japan had something like a mutual aid treaty with Britain, and Japan was actually one of the Brit/American allies. Today, Japan is increasingly being seen with American and British troops, and they send their ships to Hawaii to conduct naval exercises with ours.

Japan may soon be in the Anglo-American club, if they're not already.

Britain is Americas mind-blowing best pal besides the undeniable fact that the united states isn't Britain's maximum ideal best pal. The "particular relationship" is all one way, which will clarify why there is dissimilar resentment in route of u . s . of america in the united kingdom, exceptionally now 1000's of British troops are combating a demise for u . s . of america in Afghanistan.

I'd say yes, because they were our mother country, once. We're related. I see it as truly interesting that, despite having fought a bitter revolutionary war, we can indeed be such strong allies, but thank goodness for it.

Especially if we don't abuse the realtionship.
