In a universe of infinite possibilities, anything is possible.

The real questions is if we continue to create and develop AI and computer technology, shouldn't we teach the computers morality and ethics?

'If we were created in a simulation, then it's quite possible that there actually was a creator'. True but so what? It isn't supernatural it's natural so it isn't a god. The very concept of the supernatural is utterly meaningless if you think about it. This is why 'god' is such a silly idea. The only way I can possibly imagine a god exists is if there is an evil demon messing with my brains wiring (or maybe an alien messing with my programming if the simulation idea is right). That 'messing' with my ability to comprehend a supernatural creator means I have no way of escape from my delusion. That being the case it is not my fault is it? If one has to question reality to such an extreme level it begs the question: how can one really believe in anything other than ones self. That attitude results in solipsism which is worthless (because you may as well pretend the universe IS real even if it isn't).

Its quite possible if AI became that advanced and had a human-like greed for dominance and survival.

To an extent we already live in the Matrix, individuality is quashed in favour of a socially prescribed way of life.

There are chips being implanted now that can run the mind-machine interface. The source below is for a story about a paralyzed man, there was another story about a researcher who planted a chip into himself as an experiment (and not as treatment for illness or paralysis).

That's a far cry from the pervasiveness, detail, and life support in the matrix movies. Also, there are now robots that can live on meat. Hey--you're meat! THERE's a scary thought!! SCIENTISTS INVENT MEAT-EATING ROBOT http://cbc.ca/cgi-bin/templates/view.cgi?/news/2000/07/20/gastrobot000720

If you look at how fast we update this kind of technology and then think about how fast this technology would then update itself, then yes AI could maybe take over like that.

I believe it could. With the technology we have and the way it's developing...anything is possible. Anything at all.
