I have 3 guppies, 2 females and a male. One female is the largest of the three and is a royal pain...she bites and chases the smaller female and the male, the other female also attacks the male.My question is, why are my female guppies attacking the male? they are just relentless about it...and yesturday the little female was so frantic trying to get away from the biger one that she got herself caught in the plants and was stuck up side down absalutly freaked. i had to chase the bigger girl away...then she promptly started attacking the male...if she wont stop, forget seperation i am flushing her.

That happens from time to time. She should settle down before too long, nothing serious to worry about.

The best answer, believe it or not is more guppies. This will spread the aggression around and lessen the chances that any one animal will get hurt. The practice is called "dither" and it works pretty well with other species besides guppies, too. If your tank is large enough a group of 5 or 6 Tiger Barbs might have the same effect. Good luck with your "bad girl" guppy. -----PeeTee

Wow, flushing is pretty harsh, its torture, actually. The fish die of chemical burns in the septic system....pretty rough for something thats your pet and responsibility. If you wouldn't do that to a kitten, don't do it to a fish. Try rearranging your tank, or adding a few more plants. Just breaking up the line of sight should help the aggression. Also...they may be a little rougher than usual if they're trying to breed. Just don't flush the fish, it's a really sh***y thing to do.

I had a guppy like this too! It was insane, it was the smallest guppy but tormented everyone. She was just plain mean. I ended up taking her back to a pet store. They laughed when I said it was mean, but traded me for another fish. When I went back to the store a week later this guppy was in a tank by itself, it had been bullying everyone.

Instead of flushing most stores will take a healthy guppy off your hands, maybe even trade you for another one.

i'm breeder of syrains and when I first all began breeding I had this similar issue. I went to the puppy keep and offered both cutest hamsters, Tabby and Theodore. I planned on breeding them and promoting to a puppy keep. after performing some learn i realized that brother and sister or any relative can not breed. The pups would have some thing incorrect with them. I also discovered some more beneficial vaualbe assistance. a lady is in trouble-free terms in season each and every couple days. often each and every 4 days. So seperating them is an effective theory because syrains are terratorial. The women folk are often higher than the boys. Tabby continually picked on Theodore. yet at the same time as she grow to be in season she grow to be completely effective with him. that is because they bypass right into a nonetheless state. This state alows him to reproduce. at the same time as she is in season and also you opt for to reproduce you want to stay with them for type of an hour to substantiate that the technique is going properly and there is not any combating. the female will KILL the male if she has the oppertunity. After Theodore is breeding a lady he will bypass to the different aspect of the cage and plop down and relax. it is his signal to me that he's done breeding. I seperate them at this aspect. All you need to do after it is watch for children. count number 16 days after breeding on your calendar. on the 16th day basically be particular you go away YOUR HAMSTER on my own. She is lower than pressure and about to have as a lot as twenty children so basically go away her on my own. After the children have arrived you basically want to feed the mommy her food, make certain she has freash water on a daily basis, and for 2 a million/2 weeks enable her be. do not sparkling her cage basically get a plastic spoon and scoup out her pee spot. at the same time as they improve up you are able to both make certain they get an effective domicile and submit fliers " Hamsters for sale $5 each and each and every" or you are able to promote them to a puppy keep. once the children are lengthy gone you are able to initiate the technique all once more beneficial after giving the mummy a a million or 2 week destroy. I forgot to allow you to understand that the children must be seperated from their mommy at 4 weeks. on the instantaneous seperate them boys in a unmarried cage and women in yet another because at 5-7 weeks they are mature sufficient to reproduce. desire you each and every and each and every of the finest of success!

In the fish world, it's survival of the biggest. It's only instinct for the bigger fish to try and eliminate competition, no reason to kill it, just take the big one and donate it to a pet store.
