I am taking a class from a very difficult teacher- In fact Im not sure I will be able to pass the class- I just wish he could see my other class grades- I have a 3.89 GPA total the past two years here at college. Sometimes hard work just doesnt equate to understanding things though. I participate in class and ask many questions when I go to office hours and I go to tutoring outside of class do all the extra credit etc- just like I do my other classes and I am pushing for this class but Im still doing horrible- becuase I just dont get it. Do teachers have access to your transcript grades in the university system? It seems like they wouldnt- as that would be a privacy issue.. I wish they could though...

Yes, we usually have access to the transcript of any student who registers for one of our classes.

We rarely look at them, however, unless we are acting in an advisory capacity.

And unfortunately, as you are learning, good grades in some classes simply do NOT guarantee good grades in other classes. Because of this, your grades in your other classes are immaterial to your current professor.

I am sure you are a good student, but even the best of students do not excel in everything.

Best wishes to you.

Relax. If a professor wanted to, I am sure it would be no problem for the professor to access the school's computer system. Yet the professor first has to ask the computer grade administrator to get into the grading file. Too time consuming for a professor to make such an effort. Anyway, just relax. My roommate went through the same ordeal with Calculus I. He just didn't get it. It drove him up the wall. Because he freaked out, he dropped out of science and ended up with a history degree. I know someone else who just didn't get it in math. He nevertheless found a solution to his problem. He started to room in a suite with really smart students in math. Those students helped him bring up his math grade to an A minus.

They do have access if they request it, but it is not readily in front of them. Most professors do not have time to request and look at students transcripts. My guess is that he has no clue what your GPA is and if you are at a big university, he probably doesn't care. Sorry! If it is important that he know you have to bring it to his attention.

Most of the time........but what you are doing in those classes has little to do with your grasp of material in that particular class.
