My CPU fan is really load, how can i quiet it down?!?

The CPU temperature seems to be fine (~40 Celcius or slightly higher when I am really using it).
I tried using a program called SpeedFan, but it cannot control the fan speed.
I tried the options in the bios, and I enabled speed control (wasn't sure about "start" and "pwm" values, so I left them at their defaults of 40 and 50.

I am using a P4M800Pro-M (v2.) motherboard, an Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 CPU, and a Termaltake TR2 M21 RX cpu fan. Running Vista Premium 32-bit on my PC.

Any computer geniuses out there that might have an answer for me?

My Bios can be set to adjust fan speed according to CPU temp. If, you BIOS not have an adjustment then you can buy a fan controller. Some mount in your 5.25" drive bay and look good. Basically they connect to the board and the fan to them. Work like a volume control. OR, buy a quieter fan.

Lower Cpu Fan Speed

Looking at t from another viewpoint .. if your fan is 'loud' then it's,

- either an 'el cheapo' one

- had so much use that it needs serious attention -
as in some fresh lubrication

- working hard because your CPU is getting much too
hot ( assuming the BIOS is in control )

- basically knackered ( english expression for
kaput )! :o)

Why not buy yourself a better fan?

I am not a computer genius but cleaning your fan and some fresh lubrication can help, but is it really worth the effort? I mean a new fan with adjustable speed button ins worth 15 dollars.

SpeedFan allows you to control both fans speed in your computer: the one that sits on top of the processor and the one that pushes air out of the case: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

does it purely do it some cases, like in case you swap it off and then back on? My a1200e does this, all I might desire to do is close my pc off for a couple of minutes and then it is going to likely be high quality, or it is going to stay at around 4000 rpm for some hours, then decrease.
