In fact the world is creating a new breed of people who believe that corruption is more of a status symbol. Catch the media eye and the world looks at you, looks up to you as a powerful and extremely rich person. No one nowadays looks down upon corruption. Until proven guilty, the corrupt person is innocent. The case can be dragged over years while the person is out on bail. He enjoys the luxury of media attention and the attention of the world.
As far as corruption in America and India, the difference is enormous but firstly to define the word corruption. Making undue monetary gain from your profession or place of work. Is that it? The reason that India is far ahead of America in corruption is only because America has systems for storing data and retreiving data which is not available throughout our rural country. Computers and the kind. So pinpointing the mistakes or wrongs in financial transactions is as difficult in India as it is easy in America. Therefore many undue monetary gains by officials is mostly not traceable in India. The only way it is usually traced out is through whistleblowers (people in confidence with the corrupt official who complain to the authority with some element of proof, who finally check the matter).

I want to congratulate the Government Department especially Police Department and Electricity Board Department.

Normally I avoid all Government Departments but recently in our flats a rowdy element was giving problems in our aparment and we had to go to the Adyar policemen. The Adyar Policemen solved the rowdy problem within 5 minutes.

The MES (electricity board) came for re-connection and after re-connection the electricity board officials did not take any bribes.

Inspite of the above honesty, I feel 90% corruption prevails in India and I have not seen USA but I am told only 5% to 10% prevails in USA.

CORRUPTION NOT ONLY DESTROYS BUSINESS BUT ALSO STOPS BUSINESS. CORRUPTION DESTROYS THE CUSTOMES/CLIENTS. DUE TO CORRUPTION GOVERNMENT GETS ONLY BEGGERS SHARE OF MONEY. .

you have to bribe in cash or kind in India and us equally... you may call it commission or percentage all are corrupt practises... look carefully wherever there is automation... like reservation through Internet etc there is no corruption... do not think that India is bad or us is good... all the humans around the world have all the bad and good characters... right!
