If you have a digital camera then some recent pictures of you and maybe your siblings if you have any. Then take some baby pictures or sentimental family pictures and happy times like vacations. If you have any video you can have it transfered on to CD's then you upload them on your computer. I did this for my brother and wife with there newborn daughter basically all the clips (video) and pictures of her first year. Then I chose a song like "Over the Rainbow" and set it to that. It was very touching with the pictures and the video. Now if you are not into digital photography then why not get a canvas board at like AC Moore or Michael's and get some scrapbooking items then get your pictures and little memento's even a piece of an old baby blanket and some small keepsakes of your mothers with the pictures and the scrapbook ornaments you paint the canvas background all one color then put the photos on the canvas. You can put words like Loved, best friend, cherished, MOM, any special nicknames your mom may have, then you use modge podge glue over everything and it looks bad at first but this will dry clear. I repeat this will dry clear like glassy almost. Everything is in place and you have created a masterpiece. You can fram or not. Finally if your in a hurry you can get pictures and find blank coasters for drinks and put a picture in the center decorate and use the modge podge. These are a real hit especially when your parents have friends over and ask how the kids are doing these days. The website where I do my pictures is www.onetruemedia.com if you want to see what a photo collage digitally looks like. Good luck and remember moms always love what we get them no mtter how old we ever get!

A "wish" jar is easy to make. Just find a rather large (spaghetti or mayonnaise size) and wash it out and take off the label. Then have your child(ren) decorate by cutting plain paper to a size that will wrap all the way around and a little to overlap. Once they've decorated, just tape the new label around the jar. Now here's the fun part. On separate pieces of paper, write down individual reasons why you love Mom so much or why you want to be like her or what things does she do for you that you appreciate. Also, add in a few "good for a free hug", "kiss" or chore..... Fold them up and place in the jar. We used to call it our jar of love.... Tell Mom she can open them up anytime, but only one at a time and no more than one a day.
What happened to ours was that we kept "adding" papers when Mom did something especially nice for us, accomplished something (mine took a cake decorating class) or rose to the occasion. Thus it never did get empty...
You can also put little sayings for Moms in there. Check out greeting card sayings that you like and write some of them down.
The whole idea is for her to be excited about reaching in and choosing a piece of paper... We used to have Mom read hers at the dinner table. That was way back when we all used to be home for dinner!!

Mine always liked a coupon book good for chores done by me.
The trick is to really think about things she would love to have done, not just things you don't mind doing.
What are your mother's hobbies? Maybe you could make something to help her relax and unwind. Like bath salts, scented oil or soap. Recipes are easy to find online. Fill a basket with your goodies.

I like putting together collages in picture frames of myself with my mom. One simple picture of the two of you together in a used frame works. Make her a card, make a collage with old pictures or my favorite if you're an artist is painting or drawing a picture for her. Last year for mother's day I had no money to spend on my mom so I drew a picture of a photo she took in Venice & painted it for her. She absolutely loved it!

Every year for Mother's Day I have my children make presents for my mom. Her favorite was when I had them paint flower pots. She keeps them for everyone to see and absolutely loves them. The next year, she asked for more.

Mothers love anything their children make or do.
If you are young and short on money, make a card and say you will do the dishes for a week ,or cook her a birthday dinner and do the dishes.
Just say you love her and you are glad she is your Mom and I promise she will be happy and will keep the card always.
