If I am guessing right, you are talking about those lockable plastic door knobs on bathroom doors. If that is the case, there is a small hole in the centre of the outside handle. Insert a long thin rod. A Bic pen ink cartridge works well. Push it in and the door will unlock

You can hang several shirts on hangers on it
You can tie a string to it to pull your childs loose tooth
You can do the Macauley Caulken thing with the heating element to deter crooks
