I don't think it matters whether or not they're running for president, they're senators! Which means they should show up for votes because thats why we pay them a quarter million dollars a year! Besides, its only 4 days a week they have to go to work, and less for voting. So there really isn't any excuse.
Then again, even the ones not running for president don't show up, and the ones that do usually sleep. Reminds me of my high school days... except I didn't get paid so much...

well, I don't think it's a good thing exactly...

but I always thought that governors (which is pretty much everyone else who's running usually) get a free pass... I mean, they are clearly not focused on running their state when they are campaigning either...

but I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say that? and frankly, governors are probably more important as far as actual actions go... most senate votes wouldn't be affected by one person's vote and most try to make it to key votes that are close...

there's only so much time and a serious candidate pretty much has his hands full with his campaign...

some are ex-senators/ex-governors though...which I think is probably a better way to do it...

No. If they are not around they are not properly serving their constituency. However, they are then at a disadvantage if a competing candidate is not currently in office (i.e.; professor, businessman, lecturer, etc.). Interesting situation.

That is a bullshit site since people (kids) can vote for the same thing over & over thus skewing the votes to their favor. Ridiculous!
