As soon as he or her is ready if they can reach it put it on a higher setting. If they can still reach it take it down.

Most mobiles state that they should be removed by 5 months old, due to the child grabbing the mobile and possibly suffocating themselves.

My son is 6 months old and I haven't taken his down. Its pretty tall and he won't be able to reach it until he can stand up so I will probably leave it on for awhile. He likes to lay in his crib and "talk" to it.

well it all depends on your child...i would say that if you have your crib set to the lowest position and if your child can stand up and reach it then i would take it down, but if he/she cant reach it then i dont see it as a problem...you just dont want them to pull it down and possibly strangle themselves...hope this helps!

whenever they are able to stand up and reach for it. My daugther is 5 months and can't reach hers, so I don't think at 5 months I would remove mine, as suggested in an answer above.

when she was old enough to stand up and reach it. My mother did not do this with the one at her house and ended up with a torn apart mobile =)

My baby is 8 months, she just started pulling up, but I have still not taken it down yet. She really likes it.

As soon as they are able to pull them selves up! You dont want that thing crashing down.
