Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is the active bacteria in yogurt, is supposed to encourage beneficial flora (little organisms that live in your body and help it operate properly). If you want to get any good out of it, you need to buy yogurt that says: "Live and Active Cultures" or similar on the label. A lot of commercial yogurt undergoes processes that kill off the beneficial bacteria in order to give it a longer shelf life and reduce the risk of something nasty growing in there.
As for the reproductive aspect, some studies indicate that regular yogurt eaters get fewer yeast infections. However, eating gets the good bacteria into your gut, not your vagina, so if frequent yeast infections are a problem for you, you may want to look into the yogurt suppositories you can buy at natural food stores. Go right for the trouble spot, as it were.

Huh?
When you are taking an antibiotic for some kind of infection, you should always eat yogurt while you're on it. Antibiotics kill the bad and the good stuff you need in your body. Yogurt replaces the good stuff with the active cultures. That will keep you from getting a yeast infection in the first place. If you already have a yeast infection and are getting it treated, then eating yogurt will help it go away faster.

It's the acidophilus in it. Eating it regularly is good and does help but you can also apply plain(no flavor) yogurt directly to your vagina to treat or prevent yeast infection. Buttermilk also has acidophilus in it although most people don't like the taste of it as much as yogurt. You can soak a tampon in buttermilk and put that in to help restore the good bacteria in your vagina also. Vaginas always have yeast in them, but the amount is usually kept in check by pH and beneficial bacteria. If your pH fluctuates or you take som antibiotic that kills off the good bacteria, the yeast blooms out of control, that's an infection. Eating yogurt or buttermilk or inserting them into your vagina introduces the beneficial bacteria that keeps yeast in check.
