If so, what kind should I get?

Weight shouldn't matter on a topper. The only thing you might want to keep in mind is the thickness, the thicker it is the more memory foamish feeling you will get from it since it will adjust more.

Even the thinner ones help, mine is only an inch thick (and I still love mine.)

I don't really know about the toppers...But the memory foam bed.....We tried I weigh about 109 and he weighs about 225....I don't know that his weight mattered as much as mine...I could not "sink" into the bed right or something...After about a week my back was so sore I was sleeping on the couch....It was better than that "rock" in the bedroom!...lol...We had them come and get it and give our money back......And by the way I really thought it was comfortable in the store!...Who knew?...ss

We bought one at target about a year ago. Our mattress was so hard. My wife and I are very different in weight. The mattress topper is really nice. I used to wake up every morning with a backache. Not anymore. I think in the future, we'll buy inexpensive mattresses and just put our topper on them.

We got one at Costco, it is a 6 inch thick memory foam topper that goes in its own big pillow case and so far has been fabulous. We sleep like babies.

A heavier person on one side has no effect on the person on the other side, because of the type of foam it is made of.

Ours is SLEEP INNOVATIONS, it was $159.00.

personally - i didn't like them - have you thought of one of those sleep number beds - those are great! i didn't like the foam topper because (this is a little embarassing but....) they were too warm and we would sweat!
