1.) It gave Blacks the right to vote.
2.) More Blacks were elected to political office during the period from 1865 to 1880 than at any other time in American history.

I just remebered something else. Despite the fact the Federal government said Blacks had the right to vote, many southern states wanted to continue to bar them from voting. Southern states began imposing poll taxes, literacy tests, and other restrictions on voting.

It gave black men the right to vote. I've always thought that was interesting that black men got the right to vote before white women did. It kind of shows how women were thought of in those days.

i think it lowered the age restriction to 18 and allowed women to vote
