Does it automatically close by itself or do I have to buy to close the position?

Ditto with the others. However, if it expired today, there is a possible clearing delay. Check again monday. Some places automatically (unless you told them otherwise beforehand) exercise the option just before expiration. Since the market just closed, it may not show up immediately, but ought to before business starts Monday. When trading finishes a day, it goes to the clearinghouse, where trades are matched and accounts settled. It often takes an hour or so to fully and finally clear accounts, so there might just be a delay on notification. Still, you are most likely clear, but I wouldn't do anything until you check your account monday morning.
