Who is to say which is the bad guy in the situation and who is the good guy. I'm not talking about the current war, or American wars only, just war in general.

Whoever wins is the "good guy". Winners write the history books not the losers.

Is this a rhetorical question? Of course each side thinks the other is the "bad guy" in a war. Would the reverse make any sense? Then again, there are lots of Conservatives who believe that America is the "good guy" in the Iraqi War. And we all know THAT'S not true.

What a great question! Generally, history will define "good guy" most as: Us. Whatever side we were on, they must have been the good guys. But as we get more distance and objectivity, they tend to look at the motivations behind the war. Who were the aggressors? (bad guys) Who attacked first? (bad guys) Were they after land, or money, or power? (bad guys) Or were they trying to defend their homeland from invaders? (good guys)

I hope that helps.

History is inevitably written by the victor. In any case, each side believes its cause it just and honorable. Who is to say it isn't? It all depends on whose eyes you see it through.

When we stop oppressors and those who slaughter and kill innocent people, it's pretty easy to see who the bad guy is.
