True. Only files deleted from your main hard disk will go to the recycle bin. The ones you delete from your external drives will be deleted for good, so be carefull when you delete files from your external disks. This happens because the recycle bin is designed to work with the in-built disk only, not removable ones.
Good luck

It is true, but there is a way around it. If you go to Folder Options in the Control Panel. Select the view tab and scroll down until you see "Hide Protected Operation System Files (Recommended)" and uncheck it. You'll get a warning, so you just want to click Yes to it. After that on the root of F: drive you will see a folder called Recycler. Open that folder and in there will be a Recycle Bin Icon with a name like S-5-3-5-21-5-76-ex.. open that and in it should contain your delete items from that drive. If you cleared out your recycle bin before hand. It won't be there. I hope that works for you.

normally only internal HDD's use the recycle bin but you can still configure them to not use the recycle bin, so im not sure but you might be able to use the recycle bin for external drives if you go to the recycle bin properties and go to the tab that says what percantage of the drive is used for recycle bin and set it for the removable drive. havent tried it because i dont have an external hard drive.
