i hated my ipod nano. if you go with anything, get a creative mp3 player. i have my 2nd one now, only because it holds more songs. it never freezes, and i recommend them to anybody.

I like the Ipod Nano. The 8 gig is very nice. It's hard to find an Mp3 player with that storage capacity. It's also much cheaper than the regular Ipod. I used to have an mp3 player I loved and I swore I'd never get an Ipod. My parents gave me one and I fell in love with it. Get the Nano.

Okay one thing, if you are gonna consider the 8GB nano, why not look at just getting a 30GB video. Yeah my brother got a 30GB and I figured I would never want one because the screeen is too ridiculously small to watch anything on, actually its not that bad, and put my nano aside and got myself a video one. Then again if you dont have alot of Gigs of music, and a couple movies then dont waste your money, I ahve like 80 gigs of movies and 8 gigs of music, so it makes sense for me, but if you have jsut a few thousand songs then just get a nano, but an 8GB costs as much as a 30GB... so buying an 8GB is kinda of dumb, unless you absolutelty have to have a tiny one.

I got a creative zen vision m and love it. its about the same price as the 40 gb ipod, but you don't have file type limitations. that may be out of your range though.

For sound quality, portable CD or Minidisc will always be the way to go.
