Depending on where your are moving to in Alaska, daylight isn't as big a problem as many think. Of course in summer we are referred to as The Land of the Midnight Sun... We average near 20 hours of daylight. Winter, well that can be a bit less.
Summers are incredible. The wildlife such as moose, bears, caribou, the list goes on. Warm temperatures, averaging the upper 60's to near 100 (again, depends on where in Alaska you are), and the fishing is great.
Warning: For many once you move here... You stay.
