spam
spyware
zombie tools
Toolbars
slow DSL modem.

Sounds normal for your DSL to take a bit to startup. You open the SBC dialer it has to authenticate your connection. Could take up to a minute. Get a router and keep the connection live 24x7.

Scan your computer for spyware. You may have hit a web page that turned your fancy bit of machinery into a zombie machine sending out tons of spam and garbage to the rest of us. Clean it. Get one or several of these: Microsoft defender, Spyware Search and Destroy, AdAware...

Remove all toolbars of your browser. They are all advertising your search history to some master computer out there.. Each click takes a bit of your bandwidth and slows you down..

Worst case, you may need to completely rebuild your OS. Once the spyware comes in, sometimes it's just too hard to remove it without breaking something..

Lastly, how empty is your C drive. If it has less that 1gb of free space, I'd suggest removing, or moving content off. Windows likes to maintain a large (5-10% of C drive) swap file. Smaller the swap file, slower the computer.

When you open up explorer, Click on Tools and go down to Internet Options. When that comes up, Delete Cookies, Delete Files, and Clear History. That might help spead things up a little. Other than that, you might do like the others said before me and check for spyware. Good luck...

I recommend you use Firefox for browsing.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

I use the ATT (SBC) Yahoo Protection Suite. The ATT Yahoo Protection Suite: contains: anti-spy, anti-virus, parental controls, mail protection, Yahoo Messenger, Toolbar, Yahoo Browser, ATT Yahoo Music Jukebox. and a sign on manager. Do not install ATT Yahoo Browser. ATT Yahoo Music Jukebox is just another online music store, I recommend not installing it.

I have had many problems in the past using the SBC Yahoo Browser everyone claimed there wasn't a problem. All my problems went away when I removed it. Uninstall the SBC Yahoo browser. Only use IE7. You should be able to do this by opening Ad/Remove programs and opening the SBC or ATT line and selecting the options you want to remove.

Run Microsoft OneCare Live, “full service scan”. After you uninstall and before you install IE7 (if you have to).

Open IE7 "internet options" then "programs tab" then "manage add-ons" disable if installed the following add-ons:
YahooBridge Class Fog Creek Software YahooBridgeLib.dll
WXcom Class Yahoo! Inc. yupdctr.exe
Yahoo Services Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll
Yahoo IE Services Button Yahoo! Inc. yiesrvc.dll

These Yahoo add-ons slow IE and can cause it to crash. You will need to enable the first two of them if you later try to reinstall ATT - Yahoo software using:
http://att.software.yahoo.com/ysftc/p/att/v2/welcome

If IE7 still runs slow, run internet explorer with no add-ins:
Start - Programs- Accessories – System tools – Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If it runs ok, disable all add-ons and then enable the add-ons one at a time until you find the bad ones.

Install Windows Defender (free). It works well with ATT (SBC) Yahoo anti-spy. Windows Defender will greatly improve your antispy protection.

Uninstall the Windows Live Toolbar if you installed it. I found it slowed IE7 a lot,

Run:
Microsoft OneCare Live, run “full service scan”
Updates windows, virus and spyware scan, disk cleanup, disk fragmentation (if needed), backup and clean registry, and check for open firewall ports.
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

I recommend installing and running the following as needed:

Ad-Aware SE Personal: update + full scan
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Spybot Search & Destroy: After installation: update + scan + immunize
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

SpywareBlaster:
Update then open and click “enable all protection”. Similar to the immunize function in

Spybot Search and Destroy.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

SUPERAntiSpyware free version: (update + scan)
http://www.superantispyware.com/

Note: Sometimes you will have to remove the internet connection and run a scan in safe mode to prevent malware from reinstalling itself.

CCleaner: Install options: Install options: Check “install shortcuts” only.
Open CCleaner. select “options” then “Cookies” move cookies you want to save into the save list. Uncheck the “advanced” and "autocomplete form history" boxes if checked under cleaner settings. Under options - settings. Check box "Run CCleaner when the computer starts". Update and run cleaner.

in line with what you assert. that is stressful to choose what the subject is. you probably did no longer say no count in case you're utilising extreme velocity or dial or instantaneous. in case you're utilising a instantaneous information superhighway, it must be sign barrier situation. in case you're utilising extreme velocity, it must be spyware situation, if dial up, must be bandwidth situation. in case you have been utilising you computing device ok in the past. i do no longer think of that is computing device situation. Modem ability surge situation is likewise achievable.
