if our government sure as hell won't do it for us?

The military works for the government.

However, the military is for the most part, America's youth, NOT the government.

The only power the military has to kill and be killed.

nearly everyone of us would die for our family members, right? Thats what our country is. One great big family. We don't always like our brothers and sisters, we may fight a lot. We don't agree without parents, but when it comes down to it, they are all we have. Ex: 9/11, prior to,we were a time of chaos, racial riots, protests and hatred. BUT.... when we were attacked, the entire country (even the hate groups) joined together and fought back. The military enlistment was so high they couldnot handle the volume. There were literally lines out the door to the recruiters office. WHY....because they were willing to die for their family, their country, and their fallen.
My husband is one of those who you say "work for the govt" and their only right is to kill or be killed. That only shows you have no idea what the US military actually is. They don't die for "country" they die for its countrymen. He puts his life on the line in numerous warzones, to ensure the US is never a target again. People outside of the military can NEVER understand this, until they are a part of it. So yes those men and women are the "government" that is willing to die for us.

most people who say that wouldn't. as far as you government goes, more than 3000 have died on your behalf in iraq alone. you are protected by an all volunteer military. i would say about 35-40 percent would die and the biggest part of them are republicans. you should do a little research and see how many have died for this country. and if you are refering to politicians, it is not their job to fight. it is their job to do as we say. you say they don't. i say not enough people vote. it is the peoples fault for letting special interest groups control their party.

"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."

I believe that this speech applies more than ever in today's America and today's world, where American citizens only want to take what the government can give, but offer nothing in return.

40 years ago, at the height of the Vietnam war, Jefferson Airplane put out it's first album.

There's a line in one of the songs "I'd rather have my country die for me."

Its called patriotism.
Its about placing the ideals of our constitution above a few idiots who choose not to look after Americas best interest.

Instead they use scare tactics, and conspiracy theories themselves while blaming the democrats for conspiracy theories.

A patriot sees past all the political mumbo jumbo and fights for America, not the current president.

It's called being patriotic. For most, however, it is hollow. If it came down to enlisting and putting that belief to the test, they would fail. Of course, that is their choice.
