I remember I had lots of problems w/ diaper rashes w/ my 1st son. I used to make a paste baking soda or corn starch w/ vaseline to protect his skin from the urine. On my 2nd son I never used baby wipes unless if we were out. I have never had problems bc I always wash his bottom with water from the sink after a poo or diaper full of pee pee. I believe those baby wipes are what caused my 1st sons severe diapers rashes.
I hope this helps you.

Cornstarch works well but put in on the diaper far away from baby before you start changing the pants or the baby will get blasted with dust in the nose. Stay away from topical medicines like neosporin because they do different things than baby rash cream. The best thing you can do is let the little butt breathe by leaving the diaper off. I always just put the baby on a large towel and let them "feel the breeze" until I had to go do something, then I would put the diaper and cream or cornstarch on.

If you buy mary kay products and have the night time facial kit there is this stuff in there cannot remember the name its pink and thick thats the best stuff I ever had to put on a rash and my daughter would get bad ones. Shes a read head and has sensitive skin,or baby powder with cornstarch those two are the best things the store creams just didnt do it for her. Good luck

Some people say breastmilk... it has healing properties apparently (didn't work for me).
Be sure you are dealing with a diaper rash.... it could be something else, like a yeast infection or a fungal infection. If it is a diaper rash... Desitin has fish oils in it, which seems to be the most effective... the other diaper creams rinse off with one pee, and don't do much for healing.

I wouldn't use neosporin, its used to treat infected cuts anyway, not rash. My doc didnt' recommend corn starch or baby powder because your baby can inhale these and it can cause breathing problems. I find the store bought diaper creams work the best actually. Use a zinc oxide based diaper cream with the highest percent. (I use desitin, it has 18 % zinc oxide.)

I usually put nothing on the diaper rash. I just make sure the baby is always clean and dry and eventually the rash will go away. Remember if you allow the rash to get wet, that is when it gets raw. Good luck!

Hi there!
Sorry to read of your diaper rash woes.
The very best thing for a diaper rash is to give Baby a bath in Johnson's Oatmeal Bath ... then let Baby go without a diaper for as long as possible. A bath and air are the very best things for a diaper rash.
Also, Baby Butt Cream (yes, that's the name of it) is really good. So is Neosporin.
But the best thing is air flow.

I am the mother of 3 kids and they could not use the traditional stuff for diaper rash. I got this from my grandmother. Use corn starch. It's all natural and it has no perfumes. It is just basic, good stuff. It keeps the ammonia from their skin and absorbs the odor too. Try it!

my exboyfriend told me about this method that worked for his kids:
take some flour and let it brown in a pan over an open fire and then let the flour cool down and apply it to the diaper area instead of those fancy baby powders. and the rash should clear right up

well just about everything is going to be store bought. Didn't you get neosporine from the store?
other than that i heard if u mix baking soda with water and make it like a paste it works well. But you would have to go to the STORE and buy baking soda.
