to avoid situations like this in future start the conversation with a sure fire crowd pleaser. go to the nearest bouncer and say " excuse me my good man, but your derrierre is in need of a smart right foot attached to it", always finish the conversation with" and take your ugly wife with you". the middle part you can improvise, as i'm sure your social skills will be developed enough to include such topics as who's the fastest ambulance operator in your part of the country, to my team can trounce your team on any given day of the week with several broken legs between them and graham souness as manager, and of course the old favourite my buttock = your face.
you'll find that in a situation like this, instead of using the phrase you despise so much you will much more likely hear " you effing cnut i'll punch your face into the back of your head"
but just think of the joy will bring to the observers of this little tete a tete.

cut down on the alcohol consumption. that's when i get told the same thing. might help of you hang out with your cronies. then they will just say "dude! cut your crap!!"

or you can just stay at home and trash the place if you'd like. no one to annoy.
