Because the word "retreat" does not apply. It implies that there is an enemy and that we are giving up land which we took. If our job is to liberate Iraq, then isn't it still the Iraqis' land we're occupying? To leave is not a retreat, especially not if we take almost two years to do it (deadline end of '08) or redeploy our forces to other areas that need them more.

And yes, I used the word "occupy." Look that one up, too.

Retreat has a negative connotation to it so they wont say. This is politics remember. You have to avoid saying anything that hurts you politically or weakens your power position. So the term phased withdrawal is formed.

Why does Bush/Cheney call them transfer tubes opposed to body bags? Why do they say "difficult situation" instead of quagmire which is what this war is. Both republicans and democrats choose their words wisely..er politically and thats a reality.

The other reality is we have spent 400 BILLION on this war that doesnt make America any safer than it was the first day we invaded. Now that is a fact we have to deal with and is a good reason to CUT OUR LOSSES NOW. Could American institutions, roads, schools, buildings infrastructure, healthcare use an extra 400Billion..ask New Orleans..Im sure they would like the resources to rebuild. So yea..we have needs here. Rebuilding Iraq, a non threatening country thousands of miles away is not where I want my tax dollars spent.

Retreat is a MILITARY tactic when a force commitment is in error. George Washington retreated in the battle of Brooklyn and saved his army. The Dictator Dumbya Big Lie Iraqi Crusade is the VERY DEFINITION of a military blunder, if it wasn't really mounted as a cover to steal from the American and Iraqi people. Even the THEFT isn't going THAT well. The American military is being hollowed out for no genuine national interest. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

Personally I don't support either party; they're interchangeable. Having said that, you can call it a retreat or whatever the hell else you jolly well want to call it; it's a moot point. The war should never have been started, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the stated goals of finding weapons of mass destruction or creating a stable democracy in Iraq.

Retreat, to me, would mean giving up. And failure. And fear. And truly, I don't see the Americans wanting to bring the troops home as 'giving up'.

At what point is enough, enough? The country was freed of a dictator...isn't that why the US went in? In the aftermath, the country erupted into violence and civil war. Is that our fight too?

Retreat from Liberating Iraq? Never! We don't care how much money we have to borrowed from China.

We love those Muslims more than we care about our own record national debt.

Retreat?
Whos ever said anything about retreat moron?

Redeployment is not an issue right now!
right now, Congress has passed resolution that states clearly We support our Troops!
but dont support this mad mans current plan.

Why are republicans so afriad of a diplomatic solution.
Why depend on military so much.
Is it that you dont have confidence that Bush is capable of finding a diplomatic solution?

Well, if you havent served in the military, I dont think youve earned a real say in the matter.
So, take your ill conceived FOX info somewhere else

Retreat is something you do when you are faced with an enemy, and you don't want to fight. Or you started fighting and you didn't want to continue. We have already lost, so it is not a retreat.
