Just play your heart out. It'll be hard to just walk on but doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Jimmy Conrad of the Kansas City Wizards walked on at UCLA and actually walked on at San Jose when his pro career began and now he's gone to play in the World Cup for the US. Benny Feilhaber of Hamburg SV walked on at UCLA too. He's a former US U20 international. This season he has played in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Lately his time has been cut by the new HSV coach but he still is in the future for HSV and the US. He's still young.

Go in being able to juggle three soccer balls using only your feet and head.
Seriously, just do the best you can. If it is division 1 you'll have to be very good to get in, as you'll have a lot of worthy competition.

I don't know what position you play, but here is my advice. Play simple and play smart. Forward & midfield: DO NOT try to beat every player one on one, make simple passes and move off the ball, make good runs, DON'T be lazy every player on the field should be able to play defense, if you lose the ball track back quickly and try to win the ball back. Defender: Contain until help arives, stay on your feet as much as possible (slide tackle as a LAST RESORT), do not jump in and stab at the ball and have the player walk right by you, be vocal (Man-on, square, drop, etc.), don't lose your mark on free kicks, no stupid fouls. Goalkeeper: GOOD LUCK.
Relax and play.

Keep it Simple...Don't try and do too much and stick to what your good at. Try and be the complete player without overdoing it. other than that you'll probabaly need some luck on your side as well.
