Seriously. They always criticize the candidate's looks, or something equally stupid. What does that have to do with making a viable candidate for office?

If they talk issues, real issues, they lose big time. So they look for other things to say.

They get their cue from Know-nothing entertainers like Rush Limbaugh who gets his talking points from the RNC.

I remember a time when Sen. Mitch McConnell said on Face the Nation that the difference between the Democrat (ic) party and the Republican party was that the Democrats have no unifying philosophy while the Republicans have a philosophy that they will stick with, EVEN IF THEY ARE WRONG. That is to say, they would be willing to drag the country down following their philosophy if reality clashes with their ideas.

Will Rogers said "I don't belong to no organized political party, I'm a Democrat."

In the end the differences between the parties is that the Republicans always represent their parties beliefs while the Democrats represent their constituents wishes.

This can be plainly seen in the votes against Bush's planned surge, the voters clearly sent a message that the Democrats are listening to and voting on while the Republicans are voting against the will of the people because it clashes with their failed philosophy.

Follow the Libby trial. It provides insights into the workings of the leadership of the Republican party. When confronted with opposing viewpoints or valid arguments they turn from an issue based argument to a personal attack. If this is how the leadership works, its not a far cry from forums at this level to resort to name calling, attacks because of gender, Muslim sounding names, looks, or other superficial qualities.

Republicans got no basis to stand on, so any idea is not theirs they will bash and once its shot down and dead, they will take the DNA from that idea and take credit for that idea. Its the neocon, evganical way!

Because people are visual.

Ok, I'm not a Republican fan by any means, but look at the political comics. Any subject's appearance is made fun of when they are doing charactures of them. People eat it up.

When I discuss nutrition with my dog, nothing happens.

When I put a biscuit in front of her, she gets happy.

Same deal with repubs. Unable to comprehend ideas, they can only respond to primitive, base instincts.
