I can relate a little to your situation.

I felt useless when my kid was finally grown, but my love relationship fizzled out and my career went up in smoke.

Fortunately, I discovered knitting, and believe it or not, I am supremely ecstatic to make loops with two sticks and a ball of yarn. I work at a low-level job, live far away from family and friends (who didn't seem to care too much anyway) but as long as I can knit, I'm deliriously happy.

At this moment, I am working on a shawl-collar men's cardigan, in 100% wool crepe, four strands of fine weight wool combined to make sportweight. It will have patch pockets on the front when it is finished, and a horizontal ribbed button band that goes all the way around the neckline. I'm also working on handwarmers for the homeless, and teaching knitting and crochet whenever I get a chance. This is the best addiction I've ever had, and it's more fun than relationships with men or raising kids, or any job I've ever had. Other people who like to knit are always ready to talk and share their techniques or ideas, too.

Try to find something fun to do to lose yourself in, and life can be beautiful.

Good question!!
I was in that same situation at age 25
I'm 44 now.
Well what I did was literally create a resume` and get another job..same job higher salary..i vouched for more money..yes i lied. I didnt like that job that much better since i worked in Information Technology in NYC there was a lot of lame and backstabbing coworkers. So what id id was go to another job. Each tiem ic hanged jobs there was always something better that was different. Eventually I moved out of NY and went to the west coast. I kept most of my friends and ditched those that were either hardly there or whom always wanted something and then were unavailable when you needed something.
I didnt quit school but i did get kicked out of college..i just didnt care anymore and my depression was messing with me.
I found out later on that life had no meaning because of hormonal changes inside me. I didnt realize this until about after age 28 -30.
Then later on i noticed i became diabetic which made that same feeling happen again and making me depressed.
So now i control my sugar and im doing better. I was originally on anti depressants/anxiety meds but learned that i didnt need them.

My point is to really dont give up..ditch those so called friends and theres always others. Just make sure you go out..you'll always make new ones..either from online/internet like i did or at places in general.

Keep strong ..and dont forget..just cuz life doesnt always have meaning it doesnt mean u cant do something to simply HAVE FUN just for the **** of it! :)

First, we must all find the meaning of life as it pertains to our own existence. You appear to be going through a void which is not uncommon among adults at various points in their lives. Always remember that each of us are the ones who must take responsibility for our personal circumstances. If you are feeling oppressed by your job or your co-workers, take the initiative to move on to another job. If you are single and feeling lonely, take the initiative to make new friends, especially if you feel that your current friends are hardly there for you. If you quit school, who is to say that you would not enjoy continuing your education? Wherever we may find ourselves in life, it is up to us to either change our lives or to accept our lives as they are. Good luck to you and I hope this helps.

go to www.thesecret.tv ....this was just on Oprah and it is AMAZING. Buy the DVD and you can even just pay 4.95 to watch it one time. The basis is.....focus your energy on the things you DO want and give no energy to the things that you do NOT want. I can NOT say enough that if you are struggling for a way to improve your, emotional, spiritual and even the way you earn your living, and the friends you have WATCH IT! You can go to that sight and see the trailer....it will blow your mind! BTW- Americans thrive too much on the thought that PILLS equal mental health I had to add that to the last comment.

It sounds like you need to find a hobby and see your MD about prescribing some anti-depressants. Get back on your feet and find something to live for. It'll all be alright in the end.

You don't need pills, you need a goal. Get your butt back in school, work out at the school's gym, graduate, and make your goal to be filthy rich. Nothing comes to you unless you work for it, and anything you get without working for it, is impossible to appreciate.
