Qustions about Monterrey Mexico!!?

Question

I would like to find out some information on colleges in Mexico and how much it cost to live there etc. Also I would like to know is there good jobs over there? and are there alot of white people?? I have some family from there and would like to move over there plus it seems so nice there. If there are some good web sites for any of this information...... please tell me thanks everyone!!!!!!

Hi! I live in Monterrey, to answer your question about colleges the two best colleges in Monterrey are Tecnológico de Monterrey http://cmportal.itesm.mx/wps/portal/english and Universidad de Monterrey, which is the one I go to, http://www.udem.edu.mx .

Monterrey is one of the most expensive cities in the country, the life here is quite expensive, obviously if you have an income in dollars you won't find it that expensive but for example, in clothing the prices are pretty much the same than in the US, sometimes even more. Food and alcohol I think are cheaper here but I'm not sure. For having a really good time you would need around the equivalent to 100 dollars a week, but you can definetly live with less, it depends if you go out a lot or not.

As for the jobs it depends on what kind of job, once you contact one of this schools they can help you with this issue.

Your fourth question, if by white people you mean people with blue eyes and blond hair, yes, you can find a lot of them specially in Monterrey. If you mean people from the US or Europe you can find a lot of them on campus specially in the Tecnológico since it's bigger.

Monterrey is a great city with lots of things to do, I've lived here most of my life and so far I don't have many complaints.

Just a piece of advise. If you ask a mexican living in Mexico what ethnic group do we belong to, most of us will answer "white", although we are actually mestizos (european-native american). So yes, there is a lot, and I mean a lot of white people. And actually, we do not ask people what race do they belong to. Regarding living here, try contacting with the mexican embassy or consulate of your town, or search for the bilingual websites of mexican universities (Universidad Autónoma de México, Tecnológico de Monterrey, etc).
