Other than the expected devastation to both Iranian lives and infrastructure, there would be the usual worldwide condemnation, quickly followed by another fatwah against anything American.
Then the proverbial sh*t will hit the fan when hundreds if not thousands of Americans will be killed in their own country.
An important aspect of modern warfare which is completely lost on the 'average' American; yes the USA can bomb any country it chooses back to the stone age in a short period of time.
All this state of the art military technology the USA possesses makes 'exciting' CNN coverage from the safety and comfort of an armchair, e.g. 'shock and awe'.
However, Islamic warfare is conducted on timescales where your average American cannot even comprehend.
Should this American administration be myopic, naive or plain stupid to attack Iran, not only will this American generation's children be at risk, but their children's, children's children will be paying the price.
Japan screwed up in WWll when it awoke a slumbering giant; the USA.
America, it now appears, may be prepared to test how well a Persian sleeps.

Islamic terrorism would lose its funding and support and therefore would be virtually eradicated overnight.
Palestine would no longer be a pawn of the iranians and syrians and would no longer shun peace talks.
Oil prices world over would be stabilised long term.
Oil supply to western democracies would be secured.
China will reconsider possible plans of middle eastern troop deployment.
Islamic fundamentalism will be dealt a huge blow and the population of iran will have the opportunity to be educated and appreciate the benefits of democracy.
No more weapons ,funds or terrorist will be transferred to Iraq.
On the negative side,Russia and China could be provoked into serious political hostilty and possible military response.
Its worth the gamble.If nothing is done ,oil supply will eventually dwindle and war will ensue regardless.If this happens ,its better to have the upper hand.

Well they wouldn't bother invading , i guess it would all be Ariel attacks . The destruction of the nuclear plants would devastate Irans capabilities to defend itself from the fallout. Nature would spread the atoms across vast areas , the middle east would be declared uninhabitable .

probably the demise of the usa, there force stretched already, plus it is common knowledge that the next great war will be bettween china and the usa. every great empire that has ever been through out time has collapsed, the romans, the greeks, the bablyonans, the russians and eventually the americans.
america cant take on the world and police it all. iran is only using the nuclear angle to blackmail the security council into lifting trade sanctions and to recieve subsitys from the UN just like north korea has just done

After reading the comments from some correspondents I can understand why Bush got elected. When their 'gas' runs dry or reaches $10.00 a gallon we'll hear a different tune. I love these armchair warriors and how their minds work. These are the kind of people who are thinking we can always bomb Canada,Mexico and Venezuela and take their oil.

Oil Price will go up and more than innocent civilians and US soldiers will die.
The political and economy situations in Middle East and all the world will worse than now.
Violence forces will control all the region, because nobody won't able to trust to international rules...! (Just take a look at Iraq and Afghanistan situations)

Our gas prices will go up ...and Iran would get their a** kicked, we could do the same in Iraq if politics would stay out of it ..you can not have a humane ,politically correct war ......we can go in ,level the place , then allow the remaining survivors to rebuild their population ..it would have been over long ago had our soldiers been allowed to just do their jobs..with no political interferences
