I am tracing my roots. I am back to my great, great, great, great grandfather. An 1860 census says he was born in W Blissburg Russia. I can't find anything on this city, other than it's apparently the name of a comic book city. Which does not help me. :) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

what do you mean by "a 1860 census"? the first general census in pre-revolutionary Russia was done in 1897. there are three cities in Russia which names ended with "-burg": St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Orenburg. i doubt that city Blissburg ever existed in Russia. though, there were many small towns with German names in the Saratov region on Volga where German colonists lived in 19 and 20 centuries. so, Blissburg could be one of the small towns or villages there. but it's a purely theoretical and very unreliable guess.

I actually got off my *** for this one
i looked on wikipedia
I looked on yahoo and google
and then i asked my mom and I'm from Russia born and raised and have never heard of that city and my mom says
that she has never heard of it.
So I really wish you luck..because it is going to be hard
my best guess is that city is long gone just like Prussia. Or it was on the old russian teretory but now belongs to some other country..good luck

Look at the strange W before the name of the city. Looks like Russian "Ш".

Maybe this is Shlisselburg - Шлиссельбург?
