I am thinking about getting a pokemon game for the GBA because everybody says that they are great. What exactly are the pokemon games like? Are they roll playing, stratergy, or like Mario? Are the games easy to learn? I don't know anything about pokemon. Can i still enjoy the game?

Pokemon games are role-playing games. You raise monsters in hopes of taking on the pokemon league champion and catching all the pokemon. Its quick and easy to learn, Fire Red or Emerald is your best bet on GBA. There's two new games, Diamond and Pearl on DS. Pokemon is a good game series

Pokemon games and both Role Playing and Strategy, my favorite part about it is that it's a never ending game. It's a little hard at first ( especially if its your first time playing) but it gets easier as you play. Here's a hint if you want to win the game easily, Your starter Pokemon should be a fire type. In all the games i played fire beats the game faster. If your looking for a game right now, I would suggest getting Pokemon Emerald or just wait until the new Pearl and Diamond versions come out.

My 10 year old son has the Pokemon Emerald game. It's basically walking through the site, catching Pokemons in different areas, then evolving them to different levels. There are a few that require someone else to have the game & connector wire with either person to trade Pokemons to level up. If you've watched the show, it's playing a Pokemon against someone else's for battle.

If you get one & then don't like it, you can always trade it in at a game store like Game Stop or EB games.

The pokemon games are more of strategy games. You start with one pokemon and you have a number of objectives to accomplish. You find other pokemon in specific areas and you can fight them or catch them. Their are also other people in the game who have pokemon who you will have to fight. Your pokemon become stronger the more they fight (and win). You will figure things out as you go along in the game, so i think you could enjoy it if you dont know anything about them now.
